Since the turn of the Century, Canada has produced some of the finest female singer-songwriters in the business with many achieving success worldwide acclaim. Feist, Basia Bulat, Kathleen Edwards, Hannah Georgas, Coeur de Pirate, and Alessia Cara are just some of the names. This week, when Alexandria Maillot releases her debut album, Time, she will be mentioned alongside some of these well-known artists.

The Revue

It’s refreshing to have musicians creating lyrics that so beautifully express human emotion on this level, and Alexandria Maillot’s June 10th release of her debut album, Time, is highly anticipated to say the very least.

Alexandria wrote “Sunday Sara” during the budding of a new relationship. The song explores the feeling of being too vulnerable too quickly; being so honest with someone only to feel exposed.

TIME is noted to be, “an apt illustration of her personal evolution, the sonic entity born from undiluted chaos.” Maillot’s music has notes of country, jazz and soul and explores topics of love, substance addiction, and more.

The AU Review

The last we heard from Vancouver Island’s Alexandria Maillot, she was twisting up a Whitney Houston classic. One year later, she’s gearing up for the release of an album of originals called Time, and she’s previewing the collection with an especially splattered music video for its “Sunday Sara.”
